New Awarded Project – Al-Badaa Biosolids Treatment facilities, Innovation Centre, and Biosolids Demonstration Centre.

We are proud to announce that EEG has been awarded the design for one of the most prestigious and iconic projects in the Neom urban megacity—the Al Badaa Biosolids Treatment facilities, Innovation Centre, and Biosolids Demonstration Centre.

Client: Joint venture of Saudi Company International Water Distribution Co. TAWZEA and Spanish company Lantania

Scope: The scope of work includes design activities for Stage 3A, 3B, and 3C, adhering strictly to Neom’s procedures. Our design will cover all engineering disciplines from Process, Hydraulic, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, Architecture, Structure, Landscape, Roads, and Site Utilities, ensuring a comprehensive and integrated approach to this cutting-edge development.

Biosolids Treatment Facilities

At the heart of this project is the establishment of state-of-the-art biosolids treatment facilities. Designed to process sludge from various local wastewater treatment plants, this facility will have the capacity to treat up to 32,300 kg/day of biosolids, serving a population of approximately 22,000. The plant will leverage advanced technologies, including solar drying for sludge processing and a Sequential Biological Reactor (SBR) for water treatment, making it one of the most efficient and sustainable plants of its kind.

Innovating Wastewater and Biosolids Treatment

The Innovation Centre will be at the forefront of testing and developing emerging technologies in wastewater and biosolids treatment and recovery, contributing to Neom’s future advancements. It will feature four state-of-the-art test beds, two fully equipped laboratories, and designated areas to evaluate various new technologies in real-world conditions, cementing Neom’s position as a leader in sustainability and innovation.

Biosolids Demonstration Centre: A Showcase of Excellence Complementing the plant, the Biosolids Demonstration Centre will serve as an architectural masterpiece, providing visitors with an immersive experience into the facility’s advanced capabilities. The centre will include exhibition space, reception and viewing areas, test zones, a greenhouse, laboratories, as well as other support facilities, creating a hub for knowledge sharing and education on biosolids treatment processes.
